Fix-it Friday #30
Back “in the day”, a photo like this one would have been considered a lost cause. With the RAW editor and great photo editing software, this photo can be brought back to at least being useable.
Here are the steps I took:
- Adjusted in RAW upping the exposure quite a bit
- Levels adjustment
- Hue adjustment (to tone down the pink)
- Brightness/Contrast adjustment
- Healing brush to get rid of distracting elements
- Crackled texture on “Soft Light” blending mode with reduced opacity
- Noise reduction using the free community version of Noiseware

My fix:
There is something out there in the digital scrapbooking world that I love! They are 4x6 brag albums. I think this is such a cool idea because 4x6 prints are so inexpensive and easy to get.
Brag books come in at least 2 formats: layered blank PSD files that are ready for you to add your own papers, etc. OR ready-made albums that just require placing a photo behind the layer. I picked a ready-made album designed by Jeni Cantrill at Polka Dot Potato. There are so many cute 4x6 albums available for purchase there.
Here’s just one page I made from this set using this week’s fix-it Friday photo:
I think this is such a fun idea.
Take the challenge this week and give this photo a go! Then go check out all the great fixes at I ♥ Faces.

Great job! That is such a great picture! :]
Those are awesome templates. If I did any scrapbooking at.all. I'd be all over them. Great edit as always. :)
Hi! I couldn't find an email address for you on here or I heart faces....
I had a question about the blogger template you used. I want to use it for my current blog and was wondering if it would just switch everything over automatically? Will it keep the current background colors I have, or do I have to go back and do that again? I'm nervous!!! my email is kristin95@gmail.com
Oh Drew... I just want to let you know you totally made my day. This last week I found a new love for Digital Scrapbooking and the sites you shared are all new to me, which I so love... Great job on your edits!
And I know you are oh so busy now that you have gone back to work but I am hoping you will share with me how to get your header to change pictures.
Take care and hope you and your family have a wonderful weekend!
FAB U LAS!!
I'm really starting to enjoy the "scrapbook" element of digital photography...just one more thing to spend time I don't have on!
Oh my gosh.. that is AMAZING!
Your edit on this picture is SO amazing Drew! I love it immensely! Like, it might be one of the best edits I have ever seen on the face of the planet! : ) And this scrapbook page is SO cool! I am glad I have a friend like you. I learn SO much from you always!
This is awesome!
I love the idea of buying the template to make a whole 4x6 scrapbook that matches. How cool is that?!
Awesome job and thanks for sharing all your sources. :)

I came over to see your spectacular, knock it out of the park, sparkly blue eye picture. You have so many blue eyes to pick from because of the boys, right? : ) Hope you are well!
