Pretty in Pink ~ I ♥ Faces ~ Friday Fix-it

original

(Original)

What a precious picture this week!  I have a soft spot for thumb-suckers.  (My middle child still sucks his thumb.)  This little sweetie also looks to be close in age to my little girl.  I’d love for my daughter to wear cute headbands like the one in the picture, but…she’s not willing to put up with that!

This week I was in the mood for pastels and light colors.  I also decided to pretty up the photo with borders and graphics.  Why not?  It’s fun.

What I did:

  1. Adjusted levels
  2. Adjusted brightness contrast
  3. Reduced noise
  4. Used glamour glow from Coffeeshop to brighten the face
  5. Fixed a couple spots on the face with the healing brush
  6. Flattened and duplicated the layer
  7. Changed top layer to black and white using a gradient map
  8. Reduced opacity on top layer to let some color peek through
  9. Tilted the photo over a bit to the left
  10. Cropped photo into a square shape
  11. Made a border to go around the picture using Flower Fusion Photoshop brushes. (not sure of the location of that one)
  12. Added scrapbooking elements (Bella Gypsy ~ Love Lori)
  13. Added some text.  (LD Italic)

This is what I got:

I saw what you did go Angie's blog last night and love it!!!! I see you got to work on your own also...I love that picture!

What a great fix....I got elements for Mothers Day but haven't even installed it yet. Would it just be horrible for me to say that I'm scared....seems so intimidating and when I see other peoples fixes looks like it takes so much work!

I asked Angie if I could be adopted? I just love you guys :)

Happy Friday!

Your edit on that sweet picture was beautiful! I just read your blog and enjoy your stories and photography. I think you have just inspired me to start my own "Year in Photos". With 4 kiddos I'm sure I could easily have a memory every day that needs preserving:)

I really love what you did to the photo!!! The pink is so girls and cute. Also, I like the photo on your banner, it's so cute and totally how it is most of the time.

I actually didn't buy anything! I just used the free community version. It is a stand alone and not a plug in. But it's FREE! So I run it and then open the image in PSE. Just make sure you saveas the photo because you can't see your EXIF data on the filtered version!

About Me

My Photo
Drew
I'm a Christian, wife, mom, teacher and computer addict. I started my family blog years ago in an attempt to document daily happenings. (I knew I'd forget everything before I ever had a chance to scrapbook so I'd better write it down!) After seeing the incredible improvement in photography my sister made after having a "Year in Photos" site, I was inspired to start my own. So now I have my "gross stories from a typical day with my kids" blog and my daily photo blog. Hope you enjoy!
