I lucked out!

Just because you've come to expect it of me... On Friday, Nathan announced as usual that he had to go potty. And, as usual, I told him, "Run! Don't wait to tell me!" He's in there a few minutes and shouts out, "Mommy, I've got some apple juice." My first thought is, "Oh no, there must be a sippy cup with old fermented apple juice in there." So I, of course, yell to him, "Don't drink it, Nathan. It's old!!!" "No, mommy! There's apple juice for you. Do you want to drink some?" My dear boy, the spawn of his father, had found an empty water bottle, peed in it and tried to pass it off as apple juice to his poor mommy. He was so very proud of his little joke. The joy of having boys!

Baby!!!! that wasn't being too compliant. Our little dear did not give the technician any hints. She did say that she never caught a glimpse of boy parts, but she didn't feel comfortable saying that it was a girl. So, there's still hope for a girl??? But, a boy is just fine too! I don't know if I get any more ultrasounds, so, for the first time, we might just find out the day of the baby's birth. Go figure!

What will the baby be?

Our family seems to have started a tradition to have breakfast with Santa every year. A local nursing home has, for free, a full breakfast (eggs, sausage, French toast, etc.), Santa with pictures, crafts, storytime, etc. They do an awesome job. Of course, I couldn't find my charger for my camera so we had to take Mark's business camera. It just doesn't do as well. Guess it doesn't matter since Ben cried immediately upon being put on Santa's lap. Nathan told Santa (big surprise) that he wants a new train for Christmas. He told me later, "Santa Claus likes trains too!" We tell Nathan that he tells Santa what he wants, and then mommy and daddy go buy the presents. Guess that makes Santa the messenger boy!

Ben didn't quite make this picture. He's off to the left on the stage pitching a hissy fit.
Later on, we had a family get-together at the Brinker's. Mark's Aunt Sheila and cousin, Kristie, were here from Illinois. His Aunt Sue and Uncle Dick were also here from Indiana. We ordered pizza and had tons of snacks. Ben spent the evening as a big grouch. :) His new thing is to fling himself on the floor and have a temper tantrum. He throws himself down so hard that he usually hurts his head! We might see this from him typically a couple times a week. Well, I swear he probably did it ten times last night. It was pathetic! Here's some pics from the Brinker's. Somehow I forgot to snap any of Nathan.

Today, we went to The Barn to eat with the relatives. Mark had the swell idea to stop at the train shop afterward. Wasn't long before he had stars in his eyes and big plans for a new train set. I gave in because Mark spent mostly his own money. Let's see...here's the main breakdown...tons of Mark's personal money, Mark's birthday money, Mark's Christmas money, money from change we've collected, a little Christmas money from Nathan, and a little more from Ben. Sadly, I could have gotten a cheap laptop for what he paid, but I do know it is a good train set that can be passed on to Ben someday. (Don't think a laptop can be passed down.)
So now, Nathan has a set, and Ben has a set.

Later, I went to a craft show at Wadsworth High School with Shari, Aunt Stephanie and Amy (cousin). I went in thinking I wouldn't spend anything, but I did. Not nearly what Mark did, though! :)
Keep one of my students in your prayers. Her father passed away on Friday from a self-inflicted gun wound. I'm still not sure of the details, but I do know this is going to be horrible for her to go through. It amazes me how many students I've had that have had to deal with traumatic circumstances like this.
