Blog Design

No, I’m not starting a business. :) I just thought I’d share a few resources I used for redesigning my blog.

1. I chose a template from Our Blogger Templates. I picked one that was designed for pictures. (PhotoBlog II)

2. I then uploaded it to my site and customized the colors.

3. I changed some coding in this particular template I chose so that it would work with LiveWriter better.

Go to the HTML portion. Find this code:

.post-body p { /* Fix bug in IE5/Win with italics in posts */ margin: 0px 0px 0px 0px; padding: 3px 0px 3px 0px; display: inline; /* to fix floating-ads wrapping problem in IE */ height: 1%; overflow: visible; }

The part that is a larger font and in bold should be deleted. Don’t delete that ending bracket!

4. I designed a blog header that was exactly 940 pixels wide. The size you need to make depends on what template you choose. Usually sites will give you this information. I uploaded this through the layout area of blogger. (The video gives exact details on this.)

5. I use LiveWriter now for all the blogs I write. It’s free software, and it makes blogging SO MUCH EASIER! I really can’t say enough about it. Eventually, I will make a video on this also.

6. I designed my own signature, but My Live Signature is another really easy option for making a signature. Here’s a link that explains how to add the signature.

7. To get a different look for your titles, you might want to try out the tutorial at Kevin and Amanda’s site. It is well-written and very easy to follow.

8. Would you like a pattern or picture for your background? Follow the tutorial at this site.

About Me

My Photo
Drew
I'm a Christian, wife, mom, teacher and computer addict. I started my family blog years ago in an attempt to document daily happenings. (I knew I'd forget everything before I ever had a chance to scrapbook so I'd better write it down!) After seeing the incredible improvement in photography my sister made after having a "Year in Photos" site, I was inspired to start my own. So now I have my "gross stories from a typical day with my kids" blog and my daily photo blog. Hope you enjoy!
